“I’ll have a Manhattan, please.” Just saying it sounds so sophisticated. Perhaps because it is one of those classic cocktails that has been around forever…so, it definitely has clout. I remember having my first Manhattan when I was training to be a bartender. I had heard about the drink, but never really knew what was in it.
The Manhattan is a bit enigmatic in that way. It doesn’t have “the usual stuff” you might think of in a cocktail like Vodka and cranberry or Gin and tonic…you know, all those cocktails that pretty much say what’s in it by the name.
Upping the Manhattan’s game even more is the fact that it has Rye Whiskey, Sweet Vermouth and Bitters…an unlikely combination that makes for a rather esteemed drink.
I hope you’ll decide to mix one of these up…and, if you do be sure to mix one for me….or at least share a picture of it on IG and tag us in it (@tinykitchenTV).
