It only took 101 episodes for me to get to my family’s recipe for Meatballs. Haha! To be honest, I had planned on doing this as one of the first recipes I made, but evidently, I got carried away with 100 other recipes. Do not let that diminish the fact that this is an amazing meatball recipe!
The funny thing about meatballs is that everyone in my family has a slightly different way of making them…but, no doubt they’re all sooo good.
From what my mom tells me, this recipe is the one of the meatball recipes that was passed down from my Grandpa, tweaked by my dad and then put into the recipe book by my mom, who went in and measured all the ingredients to preserve the family recipe.
Let’s talk about my dad’s tweaking. Basically, that means he didn’t use as much garlic as Grandpa. Also, he preferred to bake the meatballs rather than frying them. Nothing wrong with that…they still come out great, especially since you finish them in the sauce and it makes them healthier. Not to mention, baking them is just plain easier (and makes for easier clean-up) than frying them on the stove. But, if you want to fry them, no problem by me!
I mentioned that it is one of my Grandpa’s meatball recipes…that’s because I remember my Grandpa making them a few different ways. One of my favorite ways is when he would add pine nuts. So good. If you like pine nuts, add them!
All that to say, tweak these little gems to your liking. You really can’t go wrong!
And don’t feel like you always have to make a plate of pasta to enjoy meatballs. As I did in this video, I just grilled up some sourdough bread and served them alongside the meatballs. Add a little Caesar Salad and, heck, you have a full-on meal!
You MUST try these! And let me know how they turn out by posting a pic on Instagram (@tinykitchentv) or leaving a comment below. I love seeing pics of your creations!
Hope you enjoy and Buon Appetito!
