Three simple words: Cheddar Bay Biscuits.
Translation: Happiness.
If you know me, you know that I am a huge crab fan. I love nothing more than crablegs. So, if I’m celebrating a special occasion…or even if I’m not, you take me for crablegs and you will see a permanent smile on my face.
Now, if you throw Red Lobster’s Cheddar Bay Biscuits into the mix, you may not be able to tear me away from the restaurant. We didn’t go out to eat much when I was a kid and we sure didn’t go to the Red Lobster…not because it wasn’t good, but because it was one of those special occasion type of restaurants. Nonetheless, I had the chance to try the Cheddar Bay Biscuits at the Red Lobster and immediately fell in love.
I think my full appreciation for them came about five years ago, when I went to the Red Lobster in Northridge, California, with a girl I was dating. We ordered our meal and then they brought the biscuits. While we were waiting on our meal, we played backgammon on my tablet. Supercool… I know. (I’m actually a big Backgammon fan thanks to my Grandpa and my Mom). But…while we were playing, we downed an entire huge basket of Cheddar Bay Biscuits. I mean, I always loved them…but when you can share your love of something with someone who loves them equally, this is a recipe for disaster.
So, recognizing that we had eaten the entire basket before our dinner had even arrived, we did what any couple would do. We asked them to bring us another basket. By the time our meal had arrived, I could only take a bite or two before I had to get it packed to go. Yes, I asked for my most favorite meal of crablegs to be packed to go because I overindulged on the Cheddar Bay Biscuits that I loved so much. Thankfully, we didn’t eat the entire second basket at that sitting, so there was one or two of those golden garlicky numbers that we could pack to go too.
Now, I share this story for two reasons. One: if you haven’t been to the Red Lobster, I want you to know about how good these Biscuits are. And Two: I want to warn you about the addictive nature of these perfectly crafted biscuits.
When I was planning the recipes to make for our first-ever, month-long Tiny Kitchen Recipe Remix series, the Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits were easily one of the tops on the list. And the cool thing about these biscuits is that they are so super simple that they can be made in a flash. I dare to say that they are too easy…and you must learn to pace yourself…obviously a trait I do not have when it comes to these biscuity morsels of perfection.
I can’t wait for you to try them. Be sure to share how they turned out and how they compare to the ones you get at the Red Lobster….and if you haven’t yet been to the Red Lobster to taste these first-hand, tonight might be the perfect time!
